Zoli session

Squad and intermediate training
Affectionately known as a “Zoli session”, after the club's most famous coach, this is the Fairfield Canoe Club’s formal weekly training session, held each Sunday from 10 am to 12 noon.

Club members gather at the FCC club rooms at 10am and paddle upstream on the Yarra to Zoli’s straight (the straight section of the Yarra running parallel to the Eastern Freeway).

Zoli Szigeti and the Sunday squad in the 1990s.

These sessions, led by club members and experienced coaches improve paddling technique through various exercises, race starts and turning, distance paddling and giving all levels of paddlers the opportunity to paddle with lots of other boats, deal with waves and learn to and improve washriding abilities.

After a hard session, everyone paddles back to the club for a hot shower, cuppa and a friendly chat with other members.

So come along and join in a Sunday Zoli session between 10am and 12 noon every Sunday - rain, hail and especially shine.
