Thinking about giving canoeing a try for the first time? Fairfield Canoe Club's beginner courses provide a great introduction to canoeing. Experienced paddlers can also find a coaching or training sesion to suit their needs. Our level Level 1 coaches have all completed Canoeing Victoria courses and teach you to paddle during our four-week beginner course. Many of FCC members were introduced to the club and canoeing through these courses.
Beginner sessions
Beginner level 2
FFC has a strong tradition in teaching people to paddle and runs beginner sessions throughout the year. Beginner sessions are a great way for people to learn the paddling basics in a safe, friendly and enjoyable environment and to discover the joys of paddling on the scenic Yarra.
The beginner sessions are open to both male and female participants over ten years of age and run over four separate sessions on weekends (mostly Sundays) from 8am until 10am. Many beginner paddlers eventually join in with the 10am Sunday training session and, if they wish to, compete in the many marathon races during the year.
FCC will provide the boats, lifejackets and paddles while you will need a change of clothes, sunscreen and enthusiasm.
These session are designed for paddlers who have completed their four beginner sessions, or any club member who would like to further develop their paddling skills. This session will assist paddlers to become more confident and able to handle the squad training sessions. The sessions are run by an accredited Level 1 flatwater coach and are run in blocks of 4 sessions.
To join the beginners or Level 2 session you need to Send an email to enquiries@fairfieldcanoeclub.org.au listing your contact details and a representative will contact you.
